I wish Apple didn't take this shit from AT&T
$599 to get a 3Gs for existing 3G users!
That’s as much as a no contract phone costs right now (or yesterday). This is completely absurd. I vaguely understand the idea of getting a subsidized price for a contract but this cost structure for Apple fans is completely absurd. I was planning on getting a new phone opening day but now I’m just pissed off.
With the last phone they had it right, free upgrade for previous owners. What’s crazy is it’ll cost you $130 less to cancel your contract and buy the subsidized phone than to buy an early upgrade phone.
With AT&T not even supporting tethering (i’m sure for an extra fee) AT&T is obviously the largest liability for Apple and always has been.
I can only imagine how many people are gonna be coming in to an Apple store to get a new phone and walking away disgusted with both Apple and AT&T.
The reason they did that the first time around is that 1st Gen Purchasers didn’t get to buy a phone at the subsidized price. They shelled out $599 for that sucker. They were allowed to upgrade at the discounted price cause they were screwed the first time around.
You purchased said 3G phone at a subsidized price…so no luck this time around.
I’m actually not bummed - Once I get the 3.0 software I can hold out. The design isn’t new…the only major upgrade is the voice stuff and that’s nothing to go dropping $600/$700 dollars on…
